Concerts at Christ Church

History
Founded in 2006, Concerts at Christ Church is a separately funded arts organization bringing the highest possible quality performances to Oyster Bay.  At present, all events presented by Concerts at Christ Church are funded entirely by donations from individuals and businesses in the community.

No money from the ordinary operation of Christ Church is used for concert events, and likewise, no money donated to Concerts at Christ Church is used for church events.  Although many donors to Concerts at Christ Church are members of the church, more and more are visitors who now consider Christ Church to be their home for great concerts, if not their church home.

There are currently two resident performing groups that regularly perform under the Concerts at Christ Church moniker.  The Festival Orchestra of Christ Church was assembled in June of 2006, first performing Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 and the Vivaldi Gloria. Since then the orchestra has been involved with six additional performances, roughly two a year, and have presented music from a wide range of periods.  The second group, the Christ Church Festival Chorus, officially appeared for the first time November 1, 2009, thanks to the large number of guests who joined the Adult Choir for the performance of the Fauré Requiem.  (Previous concerts simply referred to the performing chorus as "Adult Choir and guests")
